Having qualified at the Birmingham School of Chiropody in 1981 I was invited to become a clinical tutor.  Biomechanics was a new subject that was introduced by the USA.  It was not long before I travelled to Los Angeles to spend time with Bill Orien DPM and visit the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco.

On my return to the UK I soon became involved with teaching biomechanics at the college and spent 18 years lecturing in specialist areas such as paediatrics and sports medicine.  During my career I obtained the Society of Chiropodists Teachers Certificate, became a final year external examiner and international examiner for overseas podiatrists wishing to practice in the UK.
I have had experience in the NHS sector working in community clinics, Heartlands Hosital and providing domiciliary visits.  I worked for 2 years in the AMI Priory Hospital Sports Injury Clinic and have provided functional foot orthoses for cricketers at Warwickshire County Cricket Club since 1993.

Immediately on qualification I worked alongside my father in the family business which I took over in 1991.  I now work full time in the business with an ever increasing biomechanics caseload.

My belief in the merits of foot orthoses for a multitude of foot, lower limb and postural problems is still growing.  My thirst for knowledge in this subject area will never be quenched because the profession is still perfecting the fabrication and prescription writing of what is likely to become an essential medical device for a large proportion of the population.
