B.Sc. (hons) podiatry, HPC Registered
I graduated from Durham School of Podiatric Medicine in 1999 with a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry and have worked in the NHS since. I currently work as an associate at Richard Callaghans Practice on a Saturday morning providing a full range of podiatric treatments. Since qualifying I’ve under taken several post graduate courses in:-
Acupuncture
Diabetes
Rheumatology
Pharmacology
Wound care and Management
I currently work within the NHS as an Advanced Podiatrist specialising in Biomechanics and I also work in the Orthopaedic Triage Service as an Extended Scope Practitioner, providing specialist assessment, investigation, advice and management of non-urgent orthopaedic (musculoskeletal, or bone and muscle) problems that may need surgery.
I’m registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC) which protects the health and wellbeing of people who use the services of a registered health professional as well as The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists which is our professional governing body.
In addition to continuously building my knowledge through practice, I regularly attend training courses and study professional journals. This ensures I stay up to date with the latest methods and treatments. It is a requirement of the HPC that all Podiatrists undertake annual Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to maintain their registration. Because I also work within the NHS, I’m required to also meet their very high and exacting standards.
